Data Privacy

Viewtracker does not store any user information apart from the user’s account ID (user ID). This user ID is stored in the selected app data residency in a database managed by bitvoodoo ag. In the Extended Privacy Mode, the user ID is not tracked.
All other information is stored securely in your Confluence Cloud instance. See Viewtracker Cloud Data Structure for details.

The data privacy settings define whether users who have performed an action on Confluence pages (views, creations, edits, comments, etc.) are tracked.

How to access Data Privacy Setting

When installing the app, you are asked to choose the best data privacy setting that suits your needs. You can update these settings at any time.

In the Global Report, tap "Privacy" to access the settings.

Your options are the following:

Hide Viewers
Extended Privacy Mode

Choose your privacy setting by dragging the slider to the left or right. The setting will be saved automatically.

Standard

This is the default setting. It collects most information about your Confluence users, including their full names and profile pictures. Users with access permission to the different Viewtracker reports can see who carried out which action.

Results of this setting:

Any Confluence user can access the list of viewers of any page/blog post via the Content Report.
Space admins and Confluence administrators can access the list of most active viewers per space or globally.

Hide Viewers

This setting hides page viewers' names in all reports. For example, the tab "Viewers" disappears from the Content Report.

Optionally, you can define a group of Confluence users who will be able to see the complete reports even after this setting is enabled. Typically, this is the group "confluence-administrators".

Simply type the name of that Confluence user group into the field below the slider.

Extended Privacy Mode

This is the most restrictive setting. It doesn't show user information to anyone. It only counts individual users as "Viewers", without attributing them any further.

Results of this setting:

There is no link between the action and the user. Nobody can see which user has viewed which page, for example.
This information remains hidden even if the data privacy setting is changed at a later stage.
Actions that are visible on the page (comments, likes, etc.) will still be tracked.
